The NHL is looking to add some festive flair to its annual celebrations.
On Wednesday, the league unveiled its first-ever birthday cake decoration challenge.
The competition will feature three teams representing the league’s various divisions and is meant to provide a way for players to express their appreciation for their teammates.
The goal is to create a team that’s as different from the rest as possible.
The challenge will be open to anyone who wants to participate, including players, coaches and players-in-training.
Teams will have three weeks to create their cake designs and send it off to the league.
After that, the winner will be announced on Jan. 26.

The NHL’s birthday celebration is also expected to continue through the holidays.
The celebration of birthdays has become a huge part of the NHL’s celebrations, as teams have hosted birthday parties at arenas and at the NHL Network.
The Stanley Cup playoffs begin Jan. 2 in the Eastern Conference and the playoffs end Jan. 10 in the Western Conference.
